Preserving Authenticity
in the Age of AI
ContentDetector.net is a small independent project. Here is who runs it, how the detector actually works, and what we will not claim about it.
Who runs this
ContentDetector.net is built and maintained by a small independent team, not a company with a research department. We think saying so plainly is worth more than the alternative, because the thing most AI detector sites get wrong is claiming more than they can back up.
The site started because AI writing tools arrived faster than anyone's ability to judge what came out of them, and the tools that appeared to help were mostly funnels into paid rewriting products. We wanted a detector that was free, required no account, kept nothing, and told you where it was unreliable.
How the detection works
We do not train our own model, and we are not going to pretend otherwise. Scoring runs through a third-party detection API; the interface, the sentence-level highlighting, the perplexity and burstiness readouts and the writing tools around it are ours.
That matters for two reasons. It means we cannot claim a proprietary breakthrough — and it means the accuracy ceiling here is the same one every detector on the market runs into. Read the FAQ for where that ceiling sits.
What we will not claim
- A headline accuracy percentage. Detector accuracy depends entirely on the text you feed it. A single number across all inputs would be meaningless, so we do not publish one.
- That we can predict Turnitin. Turnitin's indicator is proprietary and runs inside their platform. No external tool reproduces it.
- A user count. We are not going to invent one, and an invented one tells you nothing about whether the tool works.
- That a score is proof. It is a probability, and it should never be the sole basis for an academic or employment decision.
Editorial policy
Everything published here is written and reviewed by a person. Where we cite a figure about detector accuracy or false positive rates, it comes from published research or a vendor's own documentation, and we say which.
We correct things. If you find a factual error on any page, tell us on the contact page and we will fix it and note the change.
We take no payment for placement in comparisons or recommendations, and we do not sell an AI humanizer — which is worth stating, because most sites publishing detector advice do, and it shapes what they tell you.
Not affiliated with ContentDetector.ai
ContentDetector.net is a separate, unrelated project. We are also not affiliated with OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, Turnitin or any detector vendor discussed on this site.
What Drives Us
Our principles are the foundation of our technology and our company culture.
Say what we know
No headline accuracy figure, because a single number across all inputs would be meaningless. We publish the caveats instead.
No upsell
We do not sell a humanizer, so we have no reason to talk you into believing a score you should question.
User Privacy
